FAQs
What age group is Brave PT for?
Teenage boys, generally 13–17.
Is this therapy?
No, but training does build both mental and physical strength.
Is it safe?
It’s no secret that martial arts and boxing style workouts are hard. We’ll teach your son how to do them, and do them safely. We make it fun, too. Each workout is different, so he’ll never get bored doing the same old routine. And it’s tailored to his skill level, no matter how capable he is.
Does my son need experience?
No. We tailor everything to his level — beginners are welcome.
What’s different about the Brave self-defence program?
Our self-defence and fitness program is different from what many people are used to. Think of it as cardio, strength, and martial arts training, rolled into one electic, efficient package. All boys train hard. They don’t get bored. And they always look forward to coming back for more.
Do you focus on whole body excercises?
Yes, we focus on whole-body exercises, so we don’t fool around with single-use time-eaters like peck-decks, or monotonous Stairmasters. We love boxing and kicking. We love kettle bells, slam balls, jump ropes and barbells. We love rowing and sprinting and squatting. Does your son know a barbell from a dumbbell? We’ll teach him. Has he got some experience? We’ll teach him a lot, too. Either way, we’ll challenge him.
Is the Brave PT self-defence program for everybody?
No, it’s not for everybody. If you’re not willing to work hard, you’re not going to get results. But what we do — and it’s much more than just self-defence — is the quickest way to get yourself fighting fit. To me, what’s most rewarding is helping someone transform themselves, to have someone say, “Brave PT changed my life.”
What if my son is shy or anxious?
That’s exactly who this program is for. We start slow, build trust, and progress at his pace.
Can I stay and watch my son train?
Yes, at the first session. After that, it depends on your son’s comfort and progress. But, due to the amount of available space only one parent is permitted at any one time.
Where are sessions held?
At our private studio in Torrensville, Adelaide.
What does my son need to bring to his first session?
Comfortable activewear, water bottle, and a willingness to train. All equipment is provided for the first month of his training.
What does my son need to buy?
After the first month of training he’ll need to have his own hand wraps, boxing gloves, and shin guards.
How do we get started?
Start with a free one hour introductory session. Send us an email or give us a call today to schedule your free session.
What does the free one hour introductory session involve?
In your son’s first session we’ll ask him about his health, fitness experience, and the goals he’d like to achieve — and answer any questions that he may have. We’ll teach him what the Brave Self-Defence program is all about, and we’ll take hime through his first ‘hands-on’ self-defence lesson (tailored to his fitness and skill level).
